God is Moving in Mexico City!
As the training phase of the MMDS ended the local students (Allen Green, Susan Day, Lesley Innis, Rachael Sandoval and Jaris Sandoval) continued with their various ministries in Santa Fe while those who had come for the training and the outreach phase (Jessica Manchester, Jeremy Dorrough and Yelena Pytkina) worked hard to prepare their music for Mexico City. The name HisStory Maker was chosen as the name of the band that was led by Sam Waddell. We were very grateful for Chris Price (guitar & bass) and Doris Norwood (drums) who came in from North Carolina to complete the band.
The musical set was made up of songs for the streets like Oh Happy Day and People Get Ready sung by Jessica to a self-composed song in Russian by Yelena to the alternative acoustic rock that Jeremy offered the the mix. Chris, being fluent in Spanish, led the worship times. Doris helped out vocally as well as drummed for the band.
The three weeks spent working with the MegaCities project were very fruitful for the Kingdom of God and in the lives of our team. This outreach was a year long project organized by YWAM Perth, Australia. Our musicians started by being part of the worship band for the Global Youth Outreach. After three days of exciting youthful worship, speakers and prayer, sixteen teams hit the streets of Mexico City to share the love of Christ. The result was 930 people making decisions to follow Christ.
The band continued the rest of their stay in Mexico City to work closely with their hosting church with Pastors Habacac & Debora Perez. God gave an incredible since of family with our band and the church both as they ministered together on the street, in the church and in a local bar; and as they all lived together in the Perez’s home with our six band members and the Perez family of five. Everyone was rejoicing together as they enjoyed each other’s fellowship and together led many to Christ out on the streets. Several of those who accepted Jesus at the outreaches came to the church the next week.
Karen was able to join the outreach for the last week. Strong friendships were formed and it’s looking like future plans for ministry together will be on the horizon.
Thank You, God, for what you are doing in Mexico City and that you let us be part of it!
