Karen Lafferty

The Founder and Director of YWAM Santa Fe
Born February 29th, 1948 (leap year), Karen spent her growing up years in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Karen Lafferty is probably best known in the Christian world as the author of the scripture chorus "Seek Ye First." This chorus, and its message, has been key in opening doors for Karen around the world and found in most major hymnals today.
In 1995 after leading the first "School of Music in Missions" in Amsterdam, Karen felt she needed to return to the US to help her elderly parents. She relocated to Santa Fe, New Mexico and incorperated YWAM Santa Fe to be the new home for Musicians For Missions International. Although Karen has become very involved with local Santa Fe churches, her call to the nations remains strong. She is still a world traveling troubador who loves to share the Love of Jesus through music.

We are Youth With a Mission located in Santa Fe, New Mexico…The City Different

 Santa Fe, originally founded as a Spanish colony in 1610,  is known as the oldest state capital city in the United States and the oldest city in New Mexico. Santa Fe (meaning “holy faith” in Spanish) sits in the Sangre de Cristo (“blood of Christ”) foothills. It’s renowned for its Pueblo-style architecture and as a creative arts hotbed.  The surrounding historic district’s crooked streets wind past adobe landmarks including the Palace of the Governors, now home to the New Mexico History Museum.
